Paolo di Giosia

Paolo di Giosia was born on September 3rd 1961 in Fano Adriano (Teramo - Italy).

Since he was a teen-ager he had a great passion for photography because he really wanted to understand, to admire and to preserve the inner world of the essential beings and the effects from the past. He enjoys getting details through his pictures, he wants to live the fascination of the world in such a way to be able to make the other people a special gift of his pictures.

The artist’s eagerness to pass on this predilection brings him to involve the children’s world through photographic competitions in collaboration with primary and secondary schools.

Since a couple of years he is president and judge-contest for various photographic competitions.

In 2004 he published the photographic volume Il Silenzio. The whole book is about Montorio al Vomano and its artistic patrimony which is actually in deterioration. The reader can find the language of the past and of the present of Montorio in such a way to recover its history recollection.

In 2006 the artist gave 40 pictures from Il Silenzio to the photographical Archives of the provincial Library “M. Dèlfico” in Teramo.

In 2007 he published a photographic volume Solitudini which tells in a poetical form a world of different people. He gives the reader the images of lonely men, women and children, of human sufferings and silence. According to the artist’s idea our world is a desert of coldness and indifference where people are lonely and isolated.

In the same year the volume Solitudini is mentioned by the Spanish philosopher Joaquín Esteban Ortega, in “Hermeneutizar la educación – Memoria del Simposio Internacional – Hermenéutica, educación y cultura escolar” of Luis Eduardo Primero Rivas (coordinador) – Universidad Pedagógica Nacional – México. From September 2008 Paolo Di Giosia is taking part of the programme “An Artist in Residence” in the gallery Warehouse Contemporary Art, San Nicolò a Tordino, Teramo.

In the spring of 2009 the magazine “Gente di Fotografia” reviewed the book Solitudini with a text by Daniela Spalanca (n. 47, pp. 56-59).

At the same time he writes Seduzione delle immagini, a presentation of the catalogue “Barbara Probo” (Teramo 2009), in which he expresses ideas and reflection on art, painting and photography.

In the summer of 2009 he publishes the new photographical volume Carezze sopra le rughe, where places to him beloved are interlaced with memories, the melancholic nostalgia is mixed with love and the “story” turns into a caress of a son over the aged face of his own territory.
